Anyone else offered a “travel grant?” (That is a fly out, right?)
I was shocked to get one, especially considering I’m unhooked.

I got one as well! I, too, was wondering whether everyone got one or only a select number of admits got one…
I got one, too. WashU has a generous travel grant fund. They probably extended the offer to all admitted applicants (just going off gut feeling).
Son got one too. Is there a specific accepted students day/ program? It seemed like the website was saying “pick a day” but I’d prefer to send him when there will be more accepted students to meet.
@musicmom2015 Website says something about a spring preview. I don’t know if that’s on a specific day or not.
I don’t think I got this. Where did you see it? In initial “Congratulations” page?
Daughter got one. Link is called “plan your campus visit.”
Yes. It asks if you want to attend Spring Preview but then I don’t see any dates. It looks like you can come anytime which seems odd. My son is hopefully going to call this afternoon. But if anyone finds out details, please share. M
Interesting - I have the Plan Your Campus Visit link, the Spring Preview question, etc., but nothing re flyouts.
I also got a travel grant for spring preview and celebration weekend (?)
For those wondering, I found my travel grant after selecting which trip I wanted to plan (spring preview vs. celebration weekend, the travel grant notification was in a bullet point about scheduling each trip).
Hmm. Interesting. I don’t see anything about celebration weekend.
I don’t see anything about a Celebration Weekend either, just Spring Preview. I don’t see anything about a travel grant.
My son called and was told they run the accepted students info sessions, etc every Monday-Friday. There isn’t a specific day/days like at some schools.
Celebration Weekend is apparently a diversity weekend used as a recruitment tool. Not all RD admits are invited. Those who are invited get flyouts.
@ackack thanks! That would explain why DS doesn’t see that. But he still got the travel grant to fly out and visit for spring preview.
To others, when you click that you want to attend spring preview I think it is the first bullet point that mentions this.
Correct @ackack It’s for multicultural students! I was invited to that but also invited to two other dates with travel grants for those as well. Can I only choose one in that case? And how fast do the programs fill up? I’m still not sure whether or not I can miss school those days and what other schools I have received an offer from.
From what I understand, the accompanying parent still has to pay for his/her own transportation and lodging, correct?
Yep, only the student gets the benefits the parent has to pay!
does this exist for international students too?
If any parents are accompanying your student, there are certain hotels that will give you a discounted rate if you ask for the “visiting WashU rate.”
