WashU or Emory ED

This is not to aid in future decision making, however I have some friends who are, believe it or not, interested in applying to these schools (if you look at my feed, you also see me highlighting my interest in these schools. Many kids at my school target Emory and WUSTL). Based on the quality of education, opportunities, job placement, etc. Which college do you think is more deserving of ED I, regardless of ANY stats? I’m not even sure if someone can come to a conclusion on a topic such as this, but it popped into my mind and this forum seems like the most appropriate place to ask such a question. Please provide your input!

A couple of comments:

–The two schools are academic peers so IMO the choice would depend largely on which environment you prefer, if one school is better for your major etc. Two reasonable and informed people could make different choices.

– You have another post asking about Wash U v Bowdoin - if possible you should consolidate your questions instead of asking for a series of comparisons. Keep in mind that people who respond here are volunteers…

– In a prior post you said you currently have a 32 ACT which is below the 25th percentile for Wash U https://admissions.wustl.edu/apply_site/Pages/Profile.aspx but seems to be a bit more in range (but still on the low side) for Emory https://apply.emory.edu/discover/facts-stats/first-year.html

I know personally I am going with WashU ED I (it’s quite out of my reach with test scores, but statistically odds are a bit better with 36% compared to ~14%. To add, it’s not like I’m at a 29. I am barely outside the range, but nonetheless being below the range is a disadvantage. https://www.college-kickstart.com/blog/item/class-of-2023-early-decision-and-early-action-results) and Emory is my ED II. I was asking for the sake of some friends who I know are looking at these same schools. Your feedback is much appreciated. Thank you for responding!

The link above for WUStL directs you to information for accepted students. In comparison to data for attending students, your ACT score would seem to place you within WUStL’s middle range.
