WashU or Grinnell?

I'm trying to decide between WashU and Grinnell. Grinnell is A LOT cheaper and is closer to home (I live in Iowa), but WashU seems to have more oppurtunities and more majors to choose from (I'm still an undecided major). Which school do you feel is mor prestigious? Which school would you pick?

(I posted this in the Grinnell forum too)

wash, ive never heard of grinnell

Wash U is definitely more prestigious, and don't you want to experience a bit different place. I would pick Wash U easily.

I don't know what you all are talking about...esp in grad school admissions..Grinnell is WELL respected.

Dude..flip a coin..that's the only way it'll work.

it seems like a lot of people from the east and west coasts have never heard of grinnell, but all the people in the midwest know its a great school

i am from midwest and have not heard of grinnell.

both are great schools but personally i would want to get the hell out of iowa

Our daughter decided to go to Grinnell instead of Washington U. because she wanted to get out of St. Louis.

That is very understandable to want to move away. I don't think you understood me earlier, I know that Grinell is a good school but I personally thing Wash U is better. The department may vary so it is a personal thing. I have heard of Grinnell because they sent me so much mail, but honestly Grinnell is out in the middle of nowhere in Iowa.

i would pick washu because its a larger school and im not a huge fan of small LACs

but i was at grinnell the past summer and it was an amazing experience and the campus is really nice. i think u will do fine at both institutions, they are equally selective and in the eyes of graduate recruiters, they would most likely be placed on the same playing field. the only advantage washu really has its in medical program.
