How and where do I order a fridge for my daughter’s room?

You can rent appliances from UTrucking, but they are a bit pricey.

Hi! My daughter is starting WUSTL this fall (just a few weeks!!!). I have two quick questions - She will be living in Lien House. Where do they pick up their mail and packages? Is the mail center open 7 days a week? Does UTrucking actually put the packages you ship to them directly in the dorm rooms? Does someone need to be in the dorm room when they are delivered to accept them? Any other move-in day tips would be great too!
Thank you for your help!

The mail center is open Monday through Friday. They get their campus box number. It’s probably on her account number. I haven’t used Utrucking for moving, but I ordered fridge from Utrucking this year and I needed to schedule a time for my daughter to be there. But I’m sure you can call Utrucking and find out. I bought most things in bed bath and beyond at home and picked it up by WashU. Southwest allows 2 bags free. So me and my husband went on move in day and checked in 6 suitcases, which fit all her stuff.
Another thing that I recommend is to get a target credit card. With it you can order anything your daughter needs and get it delivered for free. Even if it’s only $1 worth of stuff. Some things are cheaper in target then on Amazon prime. And it gives you 5% off. Several times my daughter called and said that she’s out of soap or detergent and I just went on target.com and ordered it. There’s a Walgreens about 20 mins walk but ordering online is much more convenient.
I got her bedding in marshals and home goods. Much cheaper and better quality then bed bath and beyond.

Congrats to your daughter! My son is going into his second year and I cannot tell you how much he (and us, his parents) love the school. It would take me hours! My son is right here and said that “one of the best things that happened to him” the first month he moved in was discovering the WUSTL App for getting around campus. He said to make sure to have your daughter download it. He said that it gives a map and GPS directions for all the buildings around campus, and he said that was invaluable. He was in Lien House-----oh my gosh, I wish we had dorms like this when we were in college! We loved the FaceTime calls back home to CT while he was studying with his friends in front of the fireplace in the common room after someone had baked chocolate chip cookies in the kitchen right next door! We did not have anything shipped by UTrucking, as we drove him out, but we did rent a refrigerator. It was there outside his door when he checked in. Suggestion: take pix of the condition of the fridge so that when you return it, if there was a scratch or dent, you have proof that it was there before he received it. Re the mail/package question. They have a post office on campus just a few buildings behind their dorm, just behind the Bears Den. (This dorm is in the perfect location—right across from the Bears Den and above the campus police, health center, “storefronts”) Takes about a minute to walk to. It is not open on Sunday. Monday thru Friday it is open until 5:30 (pretty sure that is the time, but you can check on the website). My son said he believes they close around 12:30 on Saturday. They have the move-in process down to a tee! They have student volunteers waiting there with carts and smiles to help loading the stuff from your car, and it was so easy with their help. Make sure to bring a tool kit, a door stop (some of the rooms had them, some didn’t) and Command Strips. Good luck to your daughter!
