hello

i'm a freshmen at nyu-stern and because of family issues (dad's declining health) I need to transfer back to stl.
my reason for transfer essay was based around this issue too.

i have a 31 on the ACTs and a HS gpa of 3.92 and first semester gpa at stern was 3.85.

they could not make a decision yet because they wanted to see my 2nd semester grades (especially calc II since its a requirement for washu business transfer)

however because of family issues my grades have gone down a lot this semester... I've just taken all my finals and I am expecting around a 3.0 and either a C+ or B- in calc II

Do you think I could write a letter to washu saying that my drop in gpa was due to my dad's health and that it is not reflective of who I am since in all of high school and 1st semester of college I've received all A's and 6 B's.

Also they know that I'm not trying to make something up now because I've written about my dad's health way back in February when I submitted my apps

do you think this letter is a good idea and should help?

Thanks!
