So many schools... Can only pick one... What is your honest opinion on which school i should choose and why?

i say go with the school that gives u the most money, cuz it's onlyy undergrad.. so u dont wanna b trying 2 pay off a $100,000 debt on TOP of how much ur graduate school is gonna cost

If you know what you want to study, look for the school that has the strongest program in that field. Do you have any idea?

no clue what i want to major in
no money from any of them

Northwestern and WashU will provide the best combination of education quality, quality of life in college and employment opportunities.

I really like Washington University..

Get rid of WashU and Vanderbilt, they're not of the same caliber as others.

Then pick whichever you want, you really can't go wrong with NW,NYU, or Tufts.

*** kid?^
washu, vanderbilt, northwestern are way above tufts and nyu

Go to Vanderbilt..Great school with a great looking student body(i.e. girls..)
Vandy has the great academics and entertaining sports plus it is in a great location.

Oh yeah, Vandy and Wash U are in the same caliber or better

GL

For me, the choice would be between Northwestern and Tufts... Which city do you prefer: Boston or Chi-town?

*I wouldn't pick WashU because I don't like St. Louis. Also because a lot of people confuse WUSTL with the University of Washington.
*I wouldn't pick Vanderbilt because of Nashville.
*Wouldn't pick NYU because it's of lower academic quality than the others, (or so I've heard.)

Nashville = remarkably vibrant culturally varied growing city with beautiful surrounding area. The music industry has grown into an overall entertainment and advertising sector. Once upon a time, I was a young man from a place like Middletown CT, and I had some uninformed opinions about Nashville. It's one of my favorite spots in the country now.

If money isn't an issue then the line up is
1.NWU
2.Vandy
3.Tufts
4.WashU
5.Stern

These schools are very different and with just the information you provided it is impossible to decide which one is best. For example, do you want a huge school in a big city (NYU), do you want to live in the South (Vandy), would you like a smaller school (Tufts)?

If you have no idea what you want to major in, I would not go to NYU Stern because then you are already deciding that you want to go into business. With the others it is all a matter of preference in my opinion, all are about equally prestigious.

Overall educatonal quality / prestige
1. NU
2. WashU
3. Vanderbilt
4-5. Tufts/NYU

Business / Econ
1. NU
2. NYU
3. WashU
4. Vanderbilt
5. Tufts

College (typical) Experience
1. Vandy
2. WashU
3. NU
4. Tufts
5. NYU

Food /Dorms / Facilities / Safety of area
1. WashU
2. Vandy
3. NU
4. Tufts
5. NYU

Weather
1. Vandy
2. WashU
3-4-5. NU, Tufts, NYU

Strength of student body:
1-2. WashU, NU
3-4-5 Vandy,Tufts, NYU

Good looking students, party life
1.Vandy
2-3. WashU, NU
4-5. NYU, Tufts

People confuse UPenn with Penn State and many think UChicago is a public school. Your point?

And the above analysis is maybe helpful but very biased against NYU and Tufts and opinion-based.

I'd probably mark NYU Stern off your list just b/c you don't know what you want to major in; while Stern is comparable to the top universities on your list, NYU CAS isn't really and unless you transferred out of NYU altogether you'd be stuck with a less valuable degree. Vandy is also quite a bit different from the other schools on your list so depending on your opinion there, that should help you decide. Tufts is a great school regardless of rankings; WashU is top-notch but if you're really leaning towards business I definitely wouldn't turn down Stern for Olin. NU is excellent for econ; all of this is really going to be dependent on what you want to study and where you want to be.

Just for your consumption, I'll tell you where I'd go if given the option just based on my overall impression of the schools:

1) WashU
2) Tufts
3) Northwestern
4) NYU
5) Vanderbilt

Willow,
I've been to Nashville... Several times. I've never spoken with you before. Why would you say my opinion's "uninformed" when you don't know me at all? Remember, you are not 'right'--you expressed an opinion. A patronizing opinion.

Brand182,
No point. That was useless information. Sorry.

haha ok that was my point.

(stupid) People ask me whether I mean Texas Wesleyan when I say Wesleyan University, but that doesn't stop me! ;)

You're definitely coming to Wesleyan?!
Congratulations! I'll see you in the fall.

vanderbilt, but wesleyan is just as good

No, I wish! Sorry to get you excited like that. Decisions (transfers) aren't out yet, but if I get in I am definitely coming. :D
