So, I got into all three of these schools... I'm interested in civil engineering and business. At WashU i'd probably double-major, while rice and vandy don't have undergrad business majors. So... convince me on which one is the best choice, can be based on pretty much anything (academics, sports, students, campus, dorms, food, city/surrounding area, etc.). I've already researched all three kind of a lot, so it's not like I know nothing about all of them... I just want to hear some other opinions to help make this tough decision.
Also, it'd be AWESOME if some current students or alumni of one of those schools could say something to the effect of what their favorite thing is about their school.
also, assume financial cost is the same at all three, i'd rather take that (important) variable out of the equation for the moment.

so.... which one?!?!?

Thanks in advance!

We have no Civil Engineering…Do you prefer engineering or business (ie. if you want businees more, come here). Our dorms are pretty top notch (ie. large space, bathroom only shared with 3 other people etc.). Campus is gorgeous (not exagerating). Food though expensive is pretty amazing. Easily outclasses most other college campuses’ food. Across the street is a gigantic park. Within the park is: 1. Free Art Museum. 2. Free Massive Zoo. 3. Free Science Museum. 4. Free History Museum. 5. Courts (racquetball/tennis). 6. Golf (costs some). Areawise that is sort of your call (ie. what type of city/town do you like).

As ^ said, if you’re interested in Civil E, then might as well start by crossing off Wash U.

yeeeah… thanks, i knew that WashU doesnt have civil engineeering… just forgot to mention that i’d do some other kind of engineering at WashU. my bad

What kind of engineering? I’m a BME, but could probably give general comments on most of the other departments (I know lots of fellow engineers).

Ninjainventor - What do you know about ChemE at WUSTL?

I’m a ChemE! We have a sweeet department, but you’ll be working yourself really really hard if you double major in business and chemE. Many/most chemE’s will do a minor (for some reason, a lot do a language minor), a few will double major in ArtSci (we have to take at least 18 humanities credits, so its not much of a stretch to do a second major), and I am doing a second undergraduate degree in the ArtSci school but I’m taking a fifth year to complete it.

Now that I think about it though, I would recommend looking into the B.S. in Applied Science degree with a major in Chemical Engineering. It requires a lot fewer classes, so you could more easily combine it with business, but it is not ABET accredited. I can’t find anything about it on the website, but you could call Engineering Student Services and ask them about it. Ask for Dean Laue or Dean Osbourne.

Hey I am a transfer student recently being accepted in the ChemE.
Could you tell me more about the programs and professors in EECE department?
Is there big chance for transfer student to have double majors?
