WashU v Tulane

After recieving and narrowing down college decisions, it ultimatley comes down to this: Washington U in St Louis(Olin: Economics and Strategy) or Tulane Honors Program. Finances are not an issue although Tulane did offer me the Presidential annual $27,500 scholarship (who's chasing who?)
I'll list my pros and concerns for each school as I see them. Any input you have would be greatly appreciated but please refrain from insulting either school.

WASHU. [visiting this weekend for Olin Spotlight]
- distance is easy to fly or drive (I live in a suburb of Cincinnati)
- great reputation and academics
- I love The Loop
- I know many local adults ICE
- nice dorms and food

**Is there a big enough nightlife scene to balance the academics and create a fun college experience? Will I experience enough culture to broaden my Midwestern comfort zone?

TULANE [will visit depending on how WUSTL visit goes]
- New Orleans (city resources, food, fun)
- more relaxed atmosphere, so I hear
- big fish in a little pond appeal (ACT 33, GPA 4.2, Honors, Presidential scholarship)
- great nightlife
- good reputation

**Are the academics substantial enough to get me into a good law or graduate school, should I decide to apply? Is the Honors program worthwhile?

My final concern, overall: I was offered a sophomore transfer option at another school in a unique program. I would like to keep this option available to me (it's non-binding). In order to do so, I must have a 3.3 GPA after 2 semesters. Is this doable at either or both schools as a freshman? (I come from a highly ranked, competitive high school and some stats above)

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Wash U is easily the best choice here. Unless finances are a serious concern, this is a no brainer.

Thanks, goldenboy. But my concern here isn’t WashU’s academics vs Tulane’s finances. I was looking for more info about the culture and life at the schools in comparison to each other.

no one can help you to find a “fit”, you have to visit and feel it out yourself.

artloversplus, thank you, but I’m aware that no one can find the perfect fit for me and I am visiting soon. My intention in posting was for people to tell me about (their opinions of) the cultures at WashU and Tulane so that I could have an idea of what it’s like there. You can only get a feel for so much on a visit.
Any input helps though!

you sound like your looking for an academic challenge i think washu is the way to go for you.

Just wondering, where is the sophomore transfer to? Personally, I think the college experience will be what you make of it. If you like to get drunk and party a lot, Tulane will serve you better than WashU. If you’re a more serious student, you’ll find that type of student body more in STL.

Thanks.
SgtDonut, the TO is for Cornell’s ILR school. It’s a unique program but I’m not certain whether or not I will do it, depends on how I like my freshman year.
