Ok... I want all of the facts... I'm deliberating between applying ED to WashU/Emory and I'd like to know a few things before I decide:

1) Honestly, which school would be easier (would orgo be harder at one or the other? or any other class?) for an ambitious pre-med?

2) Which school has prettier people (only joking... sort of)

3) When applying to Med School... is a 4.0 at Emory equal to a less than 4.0 at WashU simply because of prestige? I've hear that a school's reputation can go far... but could someone elaborate on the extent to which this is true?

4) I love sports... but the only chance I have to play a varsity sport is tennis/ table tennis.... so, anyone have any details related to those two sports... also, which school has more/better intramural sports? (i love them all)

5) Which school aids more in the guidance of pre-meds (perhaps a link to backup claims?)

6) Anything else you can think of to convince me to go to one school or the other... (i'm posting this on both WashU and Emory so that I get different perspectives =)

The only useful pieces of advice I have to give are that WashU's pre-med is supposedly very rigorous and an excellent preparation for the MCAT's and medical school. Also, WashU has excellent academics, certainly Ivy-caliber, but the environment is not as cutthroat as many of the Ivy schools, which is a good thing. Students are very bright, but also know how to have fun. I really don't now much about Emory, though, except that it's one of those up and coming schools that, like WashU, is starting to get lots of national attention. I'm sure that it's worthy of similar recognition as I have given WashU.

This year, I got in both schools so I had the same worries as you did =)

I looked into pre-med at both schools and personally I felt that WUSTL pre-med, like kbtennis2006 said, does an EXCELLENT job at preparing one for MCAT's and med-school. This isn't to say Emory is worse because it is just my personal opinion.

For your #5, I STRONGLY felt that WUSTL aids undrgrads more than Emory. Current students at Emory that I asked made the undergrad sound plain helpful. But current students and faculty that I ran into at WUSTL made it sound amazing.

Someone gave me a sample of WUSTL orgo. Here is the link and you can judge for yourself:

LOL wow that has to be one of the funniest things i've seen in a while... thank you for making my evening not completely terrible. hahahaha.

Do you think that the actual program for pre-med at WashU is harder than the program at Emory? Does prestige of a school make the classes tougher? If i studied the same at each, which one would i get better grades at?
