I’m also interested in hearing the response to jliu’s question.
I have Calc 3 down.

Should I self-teach Differential Equations/general physics before I enter BME 140, or should I delay BME 140 until second semester of freshman year?

I’m sure hirako would be more than happy to summarize some of the topics covered in the course.

Unless something has changed, 140 is only offered in the fall, meaning if you were to delay it, it would be until sophomore year. My opinion is to take it freshman year, when your classmates do. You’ll get an “introduction” (although apparently that is debatable) to BME right away, and won’t have to delay a decision about your major. Just as important, in my opinion, is taking the course with your classmates - you’ll know them all better, and it will be easier to work on problem sets together, which is definitely a necessity.
Unfortunately as we’ve written a lot about above, there are a number of new topics that are covered in 140 that you won’t have been introduced to yet, not just differential equations. I think it would be hard to really know what subjects to cover in preparation, but knowledge of Calc 3 would definitely be helpful.

What is the phage hunter program?

:( Really? Dang it. I’m choosing between Caltech, Northwestern, and WashU for pursuing BME or Biology (whichever one is more interesting) and plan to do pre-med. I’ll be swimming at Caltech and WashU, but Northwestern is so darn cold…

Anyone have any suggestions? I’d like a fairly good social life, a few clubs and activities, a pretty good GPA, and a not-too-stressful life! Thanks in advance :D

Ooh just noticed there was a third page… Thanks for the heads up about the classes guys! Man, choosing a college is slightly stressful: Clatech, WashU, or NorthwesterN?

if people want to talk about this situation regarding BME in particular, they should start a new thread.

You’re right.

Would Calculus 3 be good enough of a background to not have too much trouble?
