Hi everyone, I'm a freshman at WashU in my first semester. I think that I want to go back home to the east coast, so I was thinking of transfering.

My midterm grades are all B's and unfortunately I am only taking 4 classes this semester. I'm also in the Olin School of Business.

I'm treasurer of my residential college, a member of the college republicans and on the club baseball team.

I was thinking of applying to Harvard, Penn, Columbia, Yale, Georgetown, Tufts and maybe NYU.

My high school SAT's were 2210, 790M 740V 690W

What types of grades must I get at washu in order to transfer to the colleges I am interested in, and what are some other schools that maybe I could consider in the Northeast?

Your B's do not make Georgetown, Tufts, and therefore any of the rest easy acceptances. I agree that NYU would probably take you because WashU is probably a harder school.

"I agree that NYU would probably take you because WashU is probably a harder school."

probably heh? on the berkeley law study i saw, which rated how difficult it was to receive an A at different undergraduate schools (using things like LSATS, # of hours studying, courseload, eventual performance in law school, etc.) NYU rated lower than many state schools and well out of the top 50

I didn't want to irk any NYUers so I took a demure approach, that's all. I also didn't want to offend the OP who is considering transferring from a school I would consider great to one I would consider not as good as her original school. However, she might have strong reasons to do so.

yeah, i agree, i didn't mean NYU is not good, only that it has alot of grade inflation and only according to the study i read, and i know washu to be very difficult academically.

You guys are all forgetting ONE MAJOR IMPORTANT POINT:

He's applying for NYU STERN.
And I certainly doubt that a 3.0 GPA (well he said he got all B's, so im assuming he's GPA's a 3.0, if not very close) is enough to say that stern is a safety.

yeah it's just a midterm, I expect my grades to go up. The midterm grades are not reported. Do the schools I'm looking at see second semester grades, or is it just a 1 semester thing. Also, how many classes should I take second semester to counter the fact I took only 4 this semester?
