WashU's "Visit" Policy?

I've heard a rumor (unconfirmed) that for WashU to accept you, you must visit the campus at least once. Is there any truth to this rumor? Maybe it might help explain the large amount of people waitlisted?

Better yet, post here if you have never visited WashU but were accepted.

I am a freshman at WashU and I didn't visit until after I was accepted. However, showing interest doesn't always mean you have to visit. It also means applying for scholarships, special programs, emailing professors, etc.

So emailing specific professors will help the application process? Professors of what? undergraduate or graduate programs we're interested in? both?

Sorry if I'm asking a lot, but I'm interested in going and want to do whatever I can to show interest in this great school ^^.

Basically nothing will hurt your chances. Emailing admissions with questions can show intrest. Also, you never know what impression you will make if you email a professor in your major with questions. Other than that, put time into your application, apply for any program that intersts you, and if you are really serious about WashU and it your number one choice, apply ED.

I was accepted RD but I have never visited the university. I haven't even been near Missouri!
I think they just want you to show interest. I did so by applying to University Scholars Program (and writing a lengthy essay) and by applying to Moog Program (and writing like 5 essays). They want to know that you really want to come to Wash U.

Yeah, I did the same thing--apply for scholarships, even half-assedly if you don't expect to get them, just to show that you have interest in going to the school.

They might like it if you visit, but it's no reason to waitlist you.

I was accepted RD, but hadn't visited the school or applied for scholarships at Wash U. It's kind of weird because I really don't think I'm the kind of candidate that this university wants, yet I was accepted.

I'm the same as MooMoo. No visit, no interview, no scholarship apps, but I was accepted.
