watch for the SAT

So, I have this watch that makes this beeping sound every time I either start the timer, stop the timer, or reset the timer. Will this be allowed at the testing center? I really don't want to buy a new watch ):

Are the rules for watches the same for the ACT and SAT?

Just cough every time you start/stop/reset

Hoping to get more feedback on this. Taking the ACT in a few days and really hoping that my test will not be nullified.

Can you turn off the beep? I know some digital watches have a mute option.

Also, why do you use timers during the test? Why not synchronize your clock with the testing center’s clock and simply mark at what minute you have to stop. I’d be less of a hassle.

You WILL be disqualified if it makes a beep during a test. It’s better just to look at the wall clock, or not use the timer at all.

Alright, thanks for all the replies so far. I lost the instructions for the watch so for all I know it can’t be muted. I use a timer because I have been using it for the last 20 practice tests or so and have become quite accustomed to it. Can you guys tell me where on the ACT website does it say your watch can’t make any sounds? (I can only recall it saying that alarms are not allowed)

bump. still can only find ACT policies regarding alarms and not small sounds.

idk about the ACT, but things that make sounds are illegal on the SAT. You can just cough or don’t even worry about it though. Most proctors won’t care.
