There was a girl in one of my classes who drank only fiji water. Well two guys were running up to the store during lunch and said they'd pick her up some. They drank all the water out of it, and filled it at the water fountain. She didn't notice, and even said "Oh, this is so much better than drinking from the water fountain."

well i don't think it's just the taste, but the fact that water fountain water/tap water is more 'impure' than the bottled water..

It's 水 in Chinese. itsasmallworld is referring to 开水.

I drink cold water from my house water cooler, and I just refill it at those machines in the supermarket. In Florida we have a spring water called Zephyrhills, and it costs about the same as filtered tap water in a bottle. It also tastes a little sweeter.

Tap water is completely safe to drink, it's just the last mile or so of deteriorating copper pipe that makes it so nasty.

I saw this filter at the Kennedy Space Center that filtered mud water (it can filter sewage but not many students would drink it) into pure water.

I drank it and I didn't notice any taste difference.

Since bottled water is pretty much just tap water in bottles, I prefer tap water.

As for the claim that tap water causes cancer, that's only if you put it in a polycarbonate bottle and leave it there for a long time. Even then, no causal relationship has been fully established yet, and it applies to bottled water, too.

But it isn't. Well, some tap and well waters have some minerals in them, but those aren't harmful or anything.

Whatever they say about bottled water I still love it. I can honestly taste the differences between some brands. For example I really dislike Fiji water, but I love Dasani. I would spend 3 bucks for a bottle of it any day.

Diet Lipton White Tea is still the best though. I have a strange obsession with it.
