water in the dorms?

I will be living in Unit 3 and is there water in the dorms? (for drinking)
I'm planning to bring instant noodles and if there is no hot water I'll have to bring an instant hot water boiler.
So.......is there cold/hot water in the dorms?

There is a water fountain on the base floor (not any where the rooms are). The only water sources on each floor are the bathrooms, the sinks give relatively hot/cold water (not useful for much more than washing your hands/dishes/etc)...
Bring a water boiler for noodles and buy bottled water to drink :)

The kitchen in the lobby of each hall has a microwave and a stove, so you can boil water there. Just bring a kettle or mug.

i'm gonna bring one of those brita filters.

Yes, bring a Brita. Berkeley water could use filtering.

Never drink bay area tap water! It is pretty gross, especially in the south bay.

Actually, Berkeley water is some of the cleanest in the country. East Bay Muni does a pretty good job with it. I've drank it straight for 3 years without any problem and complaint. This "Bottled Water" thing is just hype. :-P

My girlfriend (at UCB) has a faucet mounted Brita, and the two times that I've taken it off after 6 months there has been disgusting particulates covering the screen.

unit 1 has a water fountain on each floor. dont know why unit3 wouldnt have them

Unit 3 does not have water fountains on each floor. Unit 1 and 2 are built differently from Unit 3 (which was built some time after the first two). Unit 1 and 2 also have laundry machines and dryers on every other floor, while Unit 3 has a central laundry place for all 4 dorms (with the exception of Beverly-Cleary).

Methinks y'all are a bit fussy ;) Then again, I have no problem with living in "dirty" environments. I can also assure you -- your dorm room, even in a state of impeccable cleanliness will be dirtier and fouler than the water. People aer WAY too hyped up about water and germs.
