Water Polo Recruitement

Hey guys,

So today I had a brief chat with the head coach and he seemed very pleased and excited to talk to me. He had apparently come to the west coast (I live in Cali) to come look at athletes and try to recruit. When I talk to him though, he said that the most he can do is tell the admission officers that he has a spot for me on the team. Though I know this does not guarantee an admission in the least sense, does it help at all?

Oh ya, just to add,
My team is pretty good, placing top 5 in CCS. My grades arent too bad, 4.00 unweighted (Ive taken as many APs as I can, getting all 5's) and a 33-34 ACT.

Hey,
Do you have the contact information for the coach? I have tried to find him (I do water polo in Texas- 4th at State) and have been trying to find the coach to contact for water polo. The Harvard water polo-site is down along with the contact info…

"does it help at all? "

Yes. How much? Who knows. But with your solid academics, I’d say you’re in a good standing. If you’re moving to Cambridge next September, we’ll know, eh?

SovietDarkness, just do some google. Here you go the link GoCrimson.com[/url”>General - Harvard University]GoCrimson.com

Yea, I found the E-mail. Thanks!

it does help to have you application flagged as the coach is offering.
i’m going to harvard in the fall for sports and that is what the coach offered me initially
if you can get a likely letter thats your best bet but otherwise the coach should have some pull to get you in.

Awesome, thanks guys! And Soviet, make sure you join the NCAA. Coaches are not supposed to talk to you unless your eligible (I heard?).

Yea, I haven’t received a E-mail after three days… The problem for me is that I am actually studying the IB Diploma in Sweden and I don’t have a NCAA email to register with. Do you think I should just call the coach and explain my situation to him?

Yes with those kind of grades/scores and being a recruit you have a very good shot at being accepted, provided you have excellent essays and recs.

Hey Soviet,

To register for the NCAA, you have to go to its student eligibility center. What US university coaches need is for you to prove to them that you will be eligible to play through verification of the NCAA eligibility. Just type in NCAA eligibility, and you will see it. It costs about 65 dollars to register, and you will need to send your scores and transcript in (which should take max about a week). Otherwise, im assmuning that even if you call them, they wont be able to make any guarantees (they might turn you down, idk). I know that I had emailed the coach for a week, and right when my test scores came in, he replied.
Hope that helps!
