Way too early... but I'm curious! CHANCE PLEASE!

Name: Richard
Grade: Incoming Junior
School: Glastonbury High School (A well known high school in Connecticut, I think)
Ethnicity/Gender: Korean Male
Income: Less than 75000 (Dad went to high school, Mom dropped out of college because she had no money and both lived in Korea)
Intended major: Pre-med

Colleges I'm thinking about (Not in any particular order):
-BU
-Northeastern
-Uconn
-Binghamton (Not sure about this one, my mom hates this school, idk why though)
If there are any more decent schools for pre-med, please tell me some!

Okay, so here are my stats:

Freshman year (I took no Honors or AP classes, just regulars):
-Algebra 1A: B+
-Chemistry: A-
-English 9A: B
-Euro History (S1): A-
-Geometry (I went to summer school for this, because I just wanted to be ahead of the others): B
Health/PE: A
Latin America/Carribean (S2): A
Spanish III (I was put in the lower level Spanish class because I moved here 3 years ago): A-
GPA: 3.6

Sophomore year (Took the highest level english class my school offers, and AP Bio):
-Algebra 2A: B
-AP Bio: C+ (Got a 2 on the AP exam
-English 10A Level 1: B-
-Health/PE: A
-Spanish: B
UW GPA: Low 3? I'm too scared to calculate it...

Junior year schedule:
-Pre-Calc Level 1 (Highest my school offers)
-Journalism Level 1
-Am lit Level 1
-AP Physics
-MAYBE Intro to Psychology/AP Psychology
-US History, no AP

The only reason why I'm saying MAYBE for pysch is because I have a free period and I want to add the extra class
I didn't include my electives for both years because I didn't think they were important.. and yes, I know I slacked off so much my sophomore year. I learned my mistake and I won't do it again.

SAT I: Taking it junior year, after PSAT's. My goal is 2100
SAT II: Chem 590; Bio 630 (I'm definitely gonna retake Bio, but I'm not so sure about Chemistry yet)

Extra-Curriculars:
-Key Club: 9, 10, 11, 12 (40+ hours by senior year)
-Robotics club: 11, 12 (gonna try and join junior year)
-Mu Alpha Theta Math honor society: 11, 12 (Also gonna try to join junior year)
-Indoor/ Outdoor track: 11, 12 (gonna do it in junior year....again)
-Youth Group at my church: 9, 10, 11, 12
-Summer/Winter retreat: 9, 10, 11, 12
-Vacation Bible Study Camp: 10, 11, 12 (It's a 5 day camp for kids Pre-k through 5th grade, was one of the Crew Leaders)
-Missons Trip to either Philly or Mexico to help out people for 2 weeks: 11, 12 (Couldn't do it this year because I thought I was gonna move, so I didn't sign up and do the application)

Summer Activities:
-Volunteer work at the healthcare center

I know I'm doing everything my junior year... I didn't realize how important Extra Curriculars were until I found out about CC which was in the beginning of this year.

Anyways, please CHANCE THIS KID! If I can't get into any of these schools, please suggest other schools for me for Pre-MED! THANKS

Also, in 9th grade I was a coach for 4 - 6th graders for a rec league. Please give me advice on what more I should do to make these schools a match if they’re a reach! Thank you.

BUMP. CHANCE, i’ll try and chance back!

I believe you will get into UConn probably not honors though, BU good chance same with NE. Get Your grades up and you are set+ work on sat, with 2100 you will be successful. I don’t know about bighampton, good luck! Chance back plz

thank you so much! can i get the link to your post?

Thanks

Just curious, you got a c+ in ap biology and you want to do pre med? I’m not saying you can’t, you might have just slacked off, but are you sure that’s what you love?

yeah i know… i did slack off. but, i think i’m taking pre-med as a joke, thinking that it’ll be easy when it really isn’t. I really don’t know anything about majors, which is a huge problem. i’ll definitely change it in the future, hopefully after i take AP psych and physics next year. but what do you think about my stats/ec’s? You think i’ll be able to get in? If not, please suggest some colleges, thanks.

also, i just found out my uw gpa is around 3.2…

Here [Video: Write an Essay that Stands Out | Boston University Admissions](http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/how-to-write-an-essay-that-gets-noticed/) this is from BU, if you keep working your ECs are good, try and stop getting Bs in math classes. If you get that 2100 sat I think you’ve got good chances for all of these

thank you so much atp! i’m sure it’l l help me a lot.
also forgot to mention,i’ve played piano since sophomore year, and i’ve work ed at my dad’s restaurant .
anyone else wanna chance me? thanks

bump… please!

anyone else wanna chance?

There is a pretty good chance you will get into BU if you keep your grades up. Try retaking your subject tests because this could be a factor that can tip you from not being accepted to being accepted. Good luck.

Idk anything about the other schools =/

haha thanks, and it’s fine! my #1 choice is bu as of now and i’m gonna apply ed, do you think that’ll make a difference?

It’s hard to tell since you don’t have any scores for your junior year which I’ve been told is the year colleges look the most at. But if you get 2000+ on your SAT, and get good grades (GPA 3.5+ at least) you will have a good chance at most of those schools. Good luck and study hard!

By the way, I happened to see ATP’s comment about wanting to do pre-med… And I saw that next year, your taking a journalsm class? What about a journalism major? BU is supposed to have a strong journalism program.

we’ll have to see next year, i have my own blog and i love writing, but i’m shy to write something and make it public, because from what i iknow, journalism is writing in the school newspaper. i could be wrong, but i’m pretty sure that’s what it is.
thanks!
