I just learned that Dartmouth strongly encourages a peer recommendation, and I’m hitting myself for not having known this or submitted one. Is it still possible to get one in, and if not, are my chances of admission gone?
@Snogglewumps I didn’t submit one either (I’m international and most of my peers aren’t proficient enough at English to write me one!)
However, I recently got an interview which at least means that my app hasn’t been thrown in the trash yet-- so I guess not submitting one is not that big of a problem.
I didn’t submit a peer recommendation, but I got an interview as well. I submitted a letter of recommendation from a tennis coach who I help instruct junior varsity players, so I hope that is good enough. I agree that the peer recommendation is not all that important. It certainly doesn’t lead to a rejection, and if everything in your application is fine. I doubt that it would make too much of a difference.
I had a friend submit a peer rec after this thread and they (obviously) didn’t download it… So, don’t sweat it now!
I take that back. They downloaded it and updated my checklist to show received! I don’t know if it helped, but it’s definitely worth a shot! Go for it…
