I'm really interested in medicine and my ultimate goal is to get into University of Michigan's medical school. I'm a Michigan resident and i attend Cranbrook Kingswood High school. I've been to both Wayne State and Michigan State but i'm not sure which school would be best given that my goal is to get into UofM's med school. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Looking at the profile of students admitted to U of M medical school for the past several years, neither MSU nor WSU figure predominantly in the admitted pool.

[University of Michigan Medical School :: Admissions :: Interview Day](http://www.med.umich.edu/medschool/admissions/apply/profiles.html)

So neither one of them would provide advantage over the other as far as admission to U of M medical school.

Also keep in mind that only a small percent of college freshmen who select pre medical studies actually matriculate into medical schools. Students do change their mind during their course of study. MSU would provide a larger selection of majors should you decide to switch (major).

Since Wayne State is located in Detroit, there are many hospitals in and around Detroit where one can gain experience in hospital / clinical setting. MSU is a larger school, and the total number of clinics/hospitals around Lansing is much smaller than Metro Detroit; the competition to be able to gain medical related experience will be fairly stiff.

The decision in selecting between WSU & MSU would rest on the relative the strength of your intended major, the cost of attendance, ability to be engaged in healthcare related research, and the ease with which one can gain practical medical /clinical experience.
