The University of Colorado is at the top of my list of colleges to attend now that I have taken a year off. I am from Kansas and I'm still living here now. Also, I'm only 20. I'm trying to find out if there is anyway I can become instate in Colorado within a decent time frame or find a way to make college much cheaper there? Instate tuition is about 7K and out of state is between 11-17K a semester! Any advice would be wonderful! Thank you!

Join the military and get stationed in Colorado.

^^^ . . . or maybe enlist in ROTC? In nearly all states, being classified as in-state for tuition requires relocating your domicile - your primary place of residence - to the state more than 12 months BEFORE enrolling in school. It also requires that you be self-supporting in the new state, with an income sufficient for living expenses without out-of-state support. In addition, you must sever all legal ties with the previous state. Even then, a committee may have to make a judgment as to whether you relocated to the state primarily for the purpose of attending college.

Honestly, this question comes up so often isn’t it time it was given a forum of its own?

Agree, Happymom! Like no one has thought of this before?
