We get to know on the 14th at 6:00 PM:)

From my email :)

"I want to let you know that we will allow Early Decision applicants to Duke University to view their admissions decisions on-line beginning 6:00 p.m. Eastern time Thursday, December 14, 2006. If you've already registered on our Web site, <a href="http://www.admissions.duke.edu%5B/url%5D">www.admissions.duke.edu</a>, you can check your decision by logging in as a returning user and entering your e-mail address and password. Click on your Application Checklist, then the Decision Letter tab to view your admissions decision.

If you haven't already registered on our site, you will need to do so. Click on Log In, located in the footer, then click on Register now under New Users. We realize that by registering on our site you are providing information we already have; however, this step is a necessary part of the on-line registration process. Once you've registered, you will be able to view your admissions decision on Thursday.

Since we deliver our decision letters only to the applicants themselves, we expect that only the applicant will be checking his or her decision on-line. We will ask you--as a final step--to confirm that you are the applicant before you are able to see your admissions decision.

When you log in, you might be prompted to enter your access code. You can find your seven-digit access code in the two-page Data Verification Letter we mailed you when you first submitted your application (international students receive theirs via e-mail). If you cannot locate your Duke access code, you can call our office for this information. You’ll be asked several questions so that we can verify that you truly are you before we provide your access code. This is a necessary step because our first concern is maintaining the confidentiality of our applicants' records. If you prefer, we can mail you a duplicate copy of your Data Verification Letter, which will include your access code, upon request. Of course, we will still be mailing all of our decision letters the second week of December, or we can provide your admissions decision by telephone beginning Friday, December 15, 2006.

If you decide to check your decision on-line, we strongly encourage you to do so in the privacy of your own home, not at school. We believe your decision is a private matter, and for many reasons we have found it's best for applicants to be away from friends and classmates when they check their decisions.

If you have any technical questions, please direct them to support@admissions.duke.edu. You can direct all other questions to the Admissions Office staff at 919-684-3214 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Remember, though, that we will not provide your admissions decision by telephone until Friday, December 15.

Good luck with all of your applications, and thanks again for applying to Duke!

Sincerely,

Christoph Guttentag
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions"

just got the e-mail! can't wait!!! 10 days, guys! we're almost in the single digits!

or... 9 days left till decision day..?

single digits!

woot...

OK - gotta say - SOMEBODY'S screenname is descriptive at this point :-D

Good luck to all of you going for ED! I still recall with much happiness the day I had a folder from Duke that wouldn't fit in the mailbox and was thus rubber-banded to the red flag. - Dr. G

YES.... got the same email.... 10 days 1 hour and 56 min

It also said that decisions will be mailed in the second week of December. Is there any chance they will come in the mail before the online ones are posted?

oh god... i see two images of myself 1. of screaming and then crying and then feeling that the world is in my hands or 2. showing no emotion, but feeling this "sinking" feeling in my stomach... i don't know if this has happened to you, but when i get 'bad news" i try to suck it all in and let it all sink in my stomach...

this is one news i've been waiting literally years for
oh god...

F**k getting bad news, I'm just trying to figure out who to tell first (the good news, of course)

Does this week count as the second week in December? Hmm not likely...

Maybe if they mail it on that Monday than the people in NC/SC/VA (me) might recieve the letters by then.

I don't think so... maybe they mean December 8-14... and by that... they mean December 12-14 for mailing the decisions out, lol.

Good luck, guys! Here's the countdown I post each year. :D

Unlikely. Davidson was the only one of my colleges whose letter beat the online notification (and that only by a few hours). You'll probably receive it within a day or so, though.

At this point, I just want to know if I'm in just so I can stop worrying about high school.

wow 1 day earlier really does make a difference. now we are in single digits tommorow lol

twinkletoes, my reaction will probably be identical to yours (either way). I'm really starting to wish that I hadn't told people that I was applying ED, because, if I get rejected/deferred, having people ask "Did you get in?" will just remind me of the disappointment. Also, an article that was in the paper after I won this one award said that I was "planning to attend Duke University," instead of "hoping to attend." Ahhhh I can't wait until the whole admissions process is over :)

The irony is that my grades are probably going to up if I get into Duke.. since it will give me some motivation to work, knowing that I don't have too much to stress about anymore.

Then by the end of third quarter, I am going to feel the wrath of senioritis!

:D!

Otherwise, I have a lot of applications to work on... I'm not sure yet which negative force is going to win...
a.) Stress of doing 10+ applications
b.) Fool, you aren't getting in anywhere! You might as well apply to a lot of places to increase your chances of getting in!!!

swinging: Lol, I bet we are all wishing that we can be "planning to attend Duke".

yeah, i wish i knew i was planning :)

haha. only four people know i applied ED to Duke. my parents and g/c and my best friend. it's not if i lied to everyone else, but nobody asked for some reason... i just don't feel like it's anyone's business e/c mine because as the admissions letter says, "it's a private matter"

i'm not applying to duke ED but i made you guys a countdown in case you're interested :D

<a href="http://makecountdowns.com/show.php?id=39256%5B/url%5D">http://makecountdowns.com/show.php?id=39256</a></p>

.... the countdown isn't displaying the right time for me, but i definitely set it for dec 14 6pm so hopefully it actually works for you....

haha twinkletoes....college is pretty much the only topic of conversation this year at my school...since the first day of school it's all anyone talks about. it was kind of hard to keep it a secret.

Time is wrong, but it's still a pretty sweet page, kraor.
