We get to know on the 14th at 6:00 PM:)

meh, i think the one posted earlier (<a href="http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/customcounter.html?month=12&day=14&year=2006&hour=6+pm&min=&sec=&p0=207%5B/url%5D">http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/customcounter.html?month=12&day=14&year=2006&hour=6+pm&min=&sec=&p0=207</a>)</p>

was better

expecto_patronum...same with my school. It's wierd because most seniors usually want to stay in the area for college, the val/sal/top 5-10 usually go to the University of Rochester or SUNY Buffalo, while everybody else goes to UB, Buffalo State, or a community college. The class of 2007 seems to be obsessed with getting out of here, we have people applying to almost all of the Ivies + Stanford, some of the UCs, UVA, BC (or BU, I can't remember). I'm the only one applying to Duke, though! But yeah, everybody has been college-crazed since this year started. Even most of our teachers know where we're applying.

are you kidding obsessive? kroar's magnifies the beauty that is the duke campus!

Good luck everyone! Be sure to celebrate if you get in, and if the result is not what you would like it to be...well, I was there two years ago, so if you need a sympathetic ear from someone who understands how you feel, I'd be happy to lend ya one. :)

Good luck to everyone. Even if you don't get into your first choice, I'm sure you will do well wherever you end up.

yeah, but the timer is way off

Just about everyone in my school knows that I applied to Duke...lol, I even took advantage of the "Othello" skit I did in my class by wearing my Duke sweatshirt as a prop for the "Duke of Venice" in my AP English class, thankfully the teacher was cool with the prop. :)

I bought a Duke t-shirt when I did my overnight visit. If I get in, I'm wearing it to school on Friday. Oh, I have such a cute outfit planned, I hope the Duke admissions officers give me a reason to wear it!! :)

hahahaha....i was also planning on wearing my duke t-shirt if i get in. that way nobody will have to ask, they'll just know.

Exactly. Hopefully, we'll all be decked out in our Duke attire in 9 days...

Yes!! :D

I was also planning on wearing my Duke sweatshirt and long-sleeved shirt (royal blue with the devil on it!).

I may even dye my hair dark blue.... :p, but my friends and family would hate me for doing that, lol.

I'm going to feel so silly if I don't get in..

haha....."next Thursday" seems so much sooner than 9 days or the 14th of december....

....unfortunately i have so much stuff to do before then. and i guess all that work is good in a way because it will probably make the time pass faster, but i am just finding it hard to concentrate...and keeping myself motivated isn't easy, either.

i have a sweatshirt and shorts and a tshirt prepared... haha, i am really hoping to get in. a rejection would just be so painful at this point, after all this waiting :(

I have this shirt the front has the Duke D on the left pocket area with "OBSESSION" written below it... On the back it says "YOU MIGHT CALL IT AN OBSESSION; WE CALL IT DUKE BASKETBALL".... I love it. Definitely wearing it Friday Dec 15. If I get deffered or rejected I think I might go out and buy a Carolina shirt and wear it.

EDIT: Just kidding I'd never buy a shirt supporting Carolina athletics

so i just finished reading this book i've been reading for pleasure (a rare commodity during the school year)...has anyone read The Kite Runner?

Yeah, haha we were actually required to read it for AP English, although I was going to read it anyway.

It was a really engrossing book. I enjoyed it, certainly a great debut for a new writer.

Yea, I read "The Kite Runner" two years ago for fun over the summer. I remembered feeling so bad for Hassan the whole book.. it's very well-written.

This year, I haven't had too much time to read books for fun, but I have been reading "Atlas Shrugged", which I'm about halfway done with.

hm... ok, just a stray on topic but if i get rejected/deferred i'm going to go see "The Pursuit of Happyness" b/c i think it would "fit" to inspire me and keep on motivating me even though when i'm just so sick and tired of this whole application process. (ugh)

haha, i agree twinkletoes....i am going to a dinner for my best friend's birthday like right after i find out so hopefully that will get my mind off of it if i'm deferred or rejected.

i agree with CoolaTroopa and metalasian as well...i really liked The Kite Runner...although it was really sad, and its content was really heavy. my brother and i were discussing it, though, and we felt like the end was too sudden -- that the author lost steam. it seems as though he should have set it aside for a month or so and then come back prepared to finish it....

The one problem I had with it (a discussion with some friends helped highlight this) is the suicide attempt by the the adopted boy (his name eludes me at the moment). The whole cutting of the wrist thing seems too suddenly introduced and too westernized of an idea for that kind of a child.

The winter break here starts begins the Friday after decisions. Hopefully, I'll be able to get my mind off my probable defferal or rejection.
