Let me know what you think!

It’s awesome I like the side sketches of the bloggers and it’s very well put together.

It looks cool, especially the wiki
Maybe its just me but the website is a little bit too bright/white.

Sketches of the bloggers are really nice. However I think that in every blogger’s homepage, there should a be real photo of the blogger(like the old website), because it gives a feeling of reality that the writer is an actual person, not a character made up by Admissions Office :)

I like the new layout a lot. I have only one significant criticism. One of the pages on the old website that members of this forum most commonly pointed to, was the old page on “The match between you and MIT” which was our regular answer to “No, but really, what does MIT admissions look for?” That is a post that shows up here a lot, and I am disappointed to not find that link on the new website.

mikalye -

do you mean [The Match Between You And MIT | MIT Admissions](<a href=“What we look for | MIT Admissions”>What we look for | MIT Admissions)

phoestre -

hrm, that could be a good compromise!

I liked the old design better - maybe because I’ve been using it for some time now, though this one is equally accessible and perhaps even more ‘clean’.

Here’s Chris talking about it: [MIT Academics | MIT Admissions](Welcome Home | MIT Admissions)

I love the sketches of the bloggers, but Phoestre’s idea of a picture in addition is a great one. Other than that, the new site looks great. Haven’t poked around it too much, but purely on looks, I like it.

So I was flipping through “The Best of the Blogs” and saw that someone nominated my post “How to Use the Blogs” which is HILARIOUS. That was probably the absolute snarkiest piece of writing I have ever directed at prospective students in any forum. I mean, it’s borederline MEAN. I must have written right after getting a whole slew of obnoxious emails or something. I am amazed, amused, and honored that this has been chosen by one of my peers as my best contribution to the blogs. I really can’t stop laughing.

I actually really dislike the sketches - they’re a little too far into the valley of the uncanny for my taste. Aside from that, looks snazzy!

@MITChris,

In example, you are probably aware of Q&A videos of Elizabeth '13.
Even thought sometimes simple text is more helpful to understand but the videos are perfect. It simply gives us, the prospectives, the feeling that they are real people. It doesn’t only apply to bloggers, some real campus photos would be nice in some pages.

Aside from this, new navigation stuff seems better. The old website was more colorful, which was actually nice, is a little coloring open to discussion? :)

Honestly, I preferred the old website, the new one is not as, funky and inviting. I dislike the streamlined new one :P

Actually, I retract my previous statement, the new website is much more user friendly and easy to navigate

I’m glad to see transfers are finally part of the regular system!

Edit: registration system is booched. An application error occured at approximately Tue Jul 12 22:46:27 EDT 2011 (java.lang.NullPointerException).

If corresponding with MIT about this problem, please include this message. Thank you.

also, my.mit.edu registration says that transfers should NOT use it, but http://mitadmissions.org/apply/transfer/application says they should.

I love the new site! It’s colorful and clean.

Additionally, MIT admissions are geniuses in that they implemented blogging. The blogs give you so much more info into what college life would really be like. Also, MIT’s blogs are somehow better than any other college’s blogs, however I couldn’t tell you why. I guess it’s just because they’re about MIT! :)

The website is awesome! This is what puts MIT over the top…!

I apologize for suggesting that you had dropped the match page (although I am not sure it is a natural fit classified under Process and Statistics).

I particularly appreciate the separate information on international apps, particularly how to find and register for SATs (a question I get asked a lot).

Like Tizil7 says those of us used to the old one miss a few of the features, but the new site is great and as mentioned above much easier to navigate. It was a lot of fun to see the blog from Mollie B.'s wedding too in the old blogs. Great job Chris and all. There a links that aren’t working though.

^Thanks! We’re getting ready to go to another MIT wedding in the fall (one of our groomsmen is marrying his girlfriend from college), so I’ll be sure to report any fun and quirky stuff that occurs.
