I am a junior and I would do anything to get into We the People next year.

Hey People in WE the People ..... can you give me some advice for it?
what are the qualifications needed in order to be in we the people? what does "we the people" mainly focus on? Can i prepare myself in any way? tell me all you can plz....

ah... the We the People, the Citizen and the Constitution team, I presume?

At Arcadia it's pretty competitive to be on the team, seeing as it's the "most prestigious" one (just kidding, but not quite).

As a junior you should be in either Honors US History or APUSH (even though you can get in from college prep if you have great interviews). Have some killer interviews and be on really good terms with the coach.

The program has 6 units:
Unit 1 is the philosophical basis for the constitution
Unit 2 is the creation of the Constution (Federalists vs. Antifederalists)
Unit 3 is the principles of the founders embodied in the constitution
Unit 4 is the developments of the protections of the Bill of Rights
Unit 5 is what rights the Bill of Rights protects
Unit 6 is the roles of citizens in a democracy

Firstly, though, be prepared to give up a lot of time (10-12 hours a week). You may have to sacrifice an extra extracurricular or two (something useless hopefully), but I'm still in yearbook, orchestra, Senior Council, and Boy Scouts, so don't worry about it too much.

We the People really forces you to love both the Constitution and reading - I read Aristotle's "The Politics" and Plato's "Republic" in the first month or so after getting unit assignments. I read most of the Federalist papers and of course the 3 or so textbooks we were supposed to read during the summer (not everybody did this).

Some tips for getting in... (if you're at Arcadia of course)
For the written portion - don't give stupid answers, the screeners will take them out immediately
For the first interview - don't be nervous, if you are you'll be destroyed. Be ready to be berated with questions - I supported capital punishment and they fired question after question, which I fought off and impressed the judges with.
Read the materials you're given if you make 2nd interview (I made it even though I slacked and only skimmed over them an hour before the interview, but don't copy me). During the interview refer to them directly - telegraph this - say "Fed 10 clearly states..." or "In the growth of Illiberal Democracies..."

I'm in APUSH right now... and My teacher is the We the people coach for our school. I'm a procrastinator..and I turn in the packets/DBQ's late sometimes... my grade in her class is not that high...

I think that these things will def. affect my chances...
I don't kno if the teacher likes me at all

But seriously ... I REALLY WANT TO GET IN...
