Hey People in WE the People ..... can you give me some advice for it?

thanks guys

im having deja vu right now....

anyhow, you need an essay, you must be a proficient speaker, as well as be upto date on current events.

wtp is a mock congressional hearing, and youll answer questions (much like the recent confirmation hearings of samuel alito) about the government and the history and philosophies behind our country.

not much advice to give except make sure your entrance essay is good and that you dont stutter

deja vu...lol

i am a "proficient speaker"... i love speech and debate and that is one reason i want to join...

i do keep up with current events as much as possible ...

but can ya tell me what is the best news station, or what is the best way i can get a lot of clear and consise info on pretty much everyting...

like are there any specific websites....
certain news channels that are better than the rest...?

thanks

I hate government, but I thought it might be a more fun way to get credit. We're going to nationals in May. My group got a near perfect score =).

Govt - boring
Competition - Fun!

that's awesome... our school is going to nationals too...

:]

***...

what states are you guys?

Constitution Team, right? How do all your schools do it? I did it as a sophomore and we missed nationals by 4 points. Our team is pretty much all sophomores going against seniors who take it as an honors/ap class daily. Our class was once a week and a ***** load of work outside of that. Just wondering what it is like around the rest of the country.

To answer your question, we just had to write an essay and gets some recs. We used to have about 100 apps for 30 spots, but lately we've only been getting about 40. You've got to be a good speaker, writer, do well in school, have a tremendous work ethic, team player, etc.

Best experience ever!

P.S. we lost again this year (can only do it one year, so wasn't on it) to the same team. I have no idea how we'll ever beat them again. I guess it's fair though, we have won districts 18 years straight and had won state 15 years straight and nationals three times. If only we all did it as seniors...

My team barely gets enough applicants. In fact, we have 3 people in 2 groups because we have only 15 students (I'm unit 6 and 1). We take a class for 90 mins every other day. Only real effort we put in is during x-mas break where we have mock sessions for 3hrs a day for a week with professors for judges. Apparently it worked quite well, we made it a 1058/1080 as a school in the final round.

About a 176 per group.
