We The People > AP Gov?

question for the CC geniuses out there:
is We the people viewed significantly better than AP government? they both count as AP classes
the way this works at my school is the team has a specific WTP AP period and you compete to get in.

just wondering because
1. i hate the teacher
2. its supposed to be a big time commitment

thanks guys :)

At my school to participate in We the People you must also take AP Gov. I loved them both but We the People was by far my favorite class in high school. Does your school have a history of making it to the national competition? If yes, then I suggest taking We the People, if not take AP Gov.

we were 4th at nationals in 2005, i dunno whether that would count as consistency

At my son's school, WTP is not an AP class. It is totally separate from AP Gov't and open by application only. The teacher is fabulous and they have been in the top 10 for too many years to remember, including 1, 2 and 3 places. Son loved it, was his favorite class, but he said the workload was more than all 7 other senior year classes combined (including 4 AP) that he was taking.
So unless you really are committed and excited about it, you may be miserable. Getting to argue in the committee rooms on Capitol Hill if tiyr HS makes it to top ten again is an exciting experience though, so weigh the pros and cons.
