I am thinking of taking the GRE (although I don't know in what field I want to go to grad. school in). I am somewhat weak in math (probably 500s score range). What prep book or study course do you recommend to improve the GRE quantitative score?

The gold standard:

Finish the Barron’s book and then finish the quantitative review pdf made by ETS. Afterward, complete the Nova Prep Course (it is a book) quantitative section.

For tests, you will want to complete the 5 practice tests in the Barron’s book and time yourself so you can finish them in ~35minutes flat.

After that, do the CAT test in the Barron’s cd but don’t pay too much attention to the score.

Once all this is done, you will want to do the Powerprep tests provided by ETS. These are a solid indicator of how you’ll score on the quantitative section.

One piece of advise, if you forget a certain concept or rule, write a note of it. If you make a mistake repeatedly, make a note of it. So once your studying is done, you should have a few pages of Math rules and notes.

After all this, a score of 740+ should be cake.

The key is keeping a level head and pacing yourself so you can finish all 28questions in 45 minutes. Speed is the key!

Good luck!!
