I've just been checking out the recruiting websites of some top consulting companies and it seems like NONE of them recruit at JHU. I know that many economics majors from top privates and state schools seek consulting jobs.

Are consulting companies not interested in JHU students?

They definitely do - but keep in mind Hopkins is a very small school - 1,200 graduates every year (1/2 the size of penn and 1/3 the size of Cornell).

Not sure what the “top” consulting companies are (I really don’t know anything about the consulting world), but I just searched my email to see what I could find. In the last year (ie after I graduated and was off of most of the campus mailing lists, I see emails about McKinsey, Booz Allen Hamilton, Deloitte and Accenture visiting campus for info sessions and career fairs. And that’s only the companies that I saw the names of and knew they were consulting firms - there may be other “top” consulting companies that I’ve just never heard of but that also visited campus

But that doesn’t mean you can’t get a job in the industry - my two friends who have kids at Hopkins… one graduated '08 works for Goldman and the other is doing a summer internship at Blackstone this year - he’ll be a senior in the fall. If you have strong quant skills you’ll be looked at.

I’m a 2010 (Dec 2009) Hopkins grad. Many banks and consulting firms do not actively recruit, but do have on-campus presentations and will interview JHU students with a strong resume. Among people I know, some interviews and offers were from McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Deloitte, Accenture, Dean&Co. One of my friends is going to one of the Big 3 consulting firms.

Math/statistics exposure definitely helps, but is by no means requisite.

I am headed to a BB bank, and I know of a few others that are as well.
