Weak SAT score

So, this morning I had received my SAT 2 Math Level 1 score and got a 710. After I had gotten home from school, I found out that most elite colleges want scores beyond 740. NOw my mother wants me to retake and take the SAT 2 Math Level 1 and SAT 2 Math Level 2 in my senior year, respectively.

I am satisfied with my score but my mother thinks that it will hinder my chance of getting into a good college. Opinions anyone?

I'm a sophomore btw.

I mean you have time before those scores actually come into use, so if your mother wants you to retake it, I say “why not?”. If you do score lower, colleges will probably use your 710, but if you score higher then you reap the benefits of a higher score.

I’m only saying this because you are a sophomore. If you were a junior, I’d probably say leave that score be and focus on more important things.

you should retake. getting above 750 would be best for the sat II’s just because getting that score or above should be the score range of good colleges. still, gpa is more important!

I think you should take the Math Level 2. I wouldn’t bother with Math Level 1 though; many universities don’t take it, and basically none will count both Math Level 1 and Level 2 towards your required subject tests. Honestly, the Math Level 2 has a much nicer curve (Math 1 curves suck), so you might end up scoring better on that test anyway.
