Someone stand up for Cornell - tell me what makes it better than all the rest!
Give me the pros and the cons
why are you looking at Cornell?

Well I'm looking at Cornell because it has one of the most (if not the most) demanding science program in the country. Great engineering one too. A lot say it's the weakest Ivy because it is the biggest and has the largest acceptance rate.

I am a Cornell alum and just visited campus with my wife (also Cornell BA, MS). I was feeling nostalgic and thought that I would share my thoughts in the form of a top ten list.

If it helps, I have experience with (attended, lived at, and/or worked at) Brown, Columbia, and Princeton, as well. I wish not to criticize these schools, but rather show how Cornell stands out based on my experiences. So here goes...

Top Ten Best Things About Cornell from an Insider:

It has its own brand of milk and ice cream (good!).

Bear Necessities (the off-campus campus store) and other shops have plenty of stylish Cornell clothes (so you can bling-bling in style).

Cost of living is low (off-campus apartments are reasonable).

Collegetown (business district just off campus) is filled with cheap food, and is open late (it's like one square block of New York City).

The campus is pretty even in the dead of winter and awesome in the summer (every student should spend a summer in Ithaca).

Ithaca locals are so friendly to students if you treat them well.

It's hard to find a program that Cornell doesn't have.

The dorms are (mostly) new and the campus food is some of the best-rated at any college.

Cold weather and Ithaca make for comraderie among students and great campus social life.

Students are down-to-earth and friendly (and there are enough of them that anyone can find friends...or a spouse ;-).

Is the Department of Psychology as good as Engineering?

I don't it's the weakest Ivy.

hello, everyone, i am going to aim for cornell via ed. could anyone tell me which college in cornell is the easiest to get into?? thanks.

engineering

^^If you have the numbers

weakest iv my a**. Cornell is number 1 in hotel, agriculture, human ecology, veterinary science, labor relations (undergrad), architechture (undergrad) in the nation, and probably in the world. Its also number 1 in engineering in the Ivy League, top 5 computer science in the country, number 4 in business, largest research institution in the world, number 1 in animal science, food science, atmospheric science, and a whole bunch of other majors. Although College of Arts and Sciences isnt comparable to HYP, it is one of the top programs. Just because it chooses to be least selective in order to fullfill Ezra Cornell's mission, any person any study, so that it can provide the best education to as many ppl as possible does not make it the worst Ivy. I noe three others that is below cornell.

honestly i don't care what people say about Cornell and I don't even care about all the rankings. These rankings are so arbitrary and are filled with gibberish factors and I take them with a grain of salt and so should all of you.

The important thing is to apply to a school that you feel that you like and not apply to the school with the highest rankings.

I like Cornell for its lack of snobbishness present in the Ivy League, its strong sense of community and school unity. And I feel that Cornell can educate me to become not only a better scholar, but also a human been.

Sparknotes: almost all the kids at Cornell are mad chill, know how to enjoy life, have strong sense of community and diligence, as well as a strong need to party
