Weaknesses

I thought It would be a cool thing for all the applicants applying to boarding schools to list a weakness that they have in school. I know everyone here is strong academically, but it is usually rumored that everyone is a genius. I believe everyone has a weakness in school, mine is writing. English I am usually in the A-, B+ range in my report cards while all my other classes are A's and A+'s. May be if one of us has a few strengths in a specific area we can give tips to help each other out

My weakness is Math and Science: I suck at numbers and there are too many terms! I normally am able to maintain an okay grade, with Math being at a solid B and Science at a B-. Writing is one of my strongest points, which is why I’m applying to Middlesex for their writing program. I have an overall 94 in English, which would have been higher if I hadn’t confused the directions on my last test. History I have a A- in and same with Spanish. Overall, my weakness is testing! I end up stressing out more than studying effectively.

My weakness is history, even though I LOVE it. Maybe I am not applying myself enough, because I do tend to slack. This is not a good habit for AP US History, but I’ve learned to manage and I am getting better. Wish me luck during midterms.

@ccnaf14- That is so weird! My strengths are math and science. I get one hundreds on all my tests for those classes but english is what prevents me from straight A’s!

@Ladidadaladida-I LOVE HISTORY! I LOVE IT SO MUCH WITH A PASSION! its just that my grades are not perfect in the class because half of our tests are worth based on our essays

Providing that you have high ssats, a b or 2 is no big deal. I don’t see that as a weakness at all. The school will know that your a capable student if you score in 80-99 range. I think my weakness though is letters. Not that they were bad, just my English teacher sees them as work and since my school is near a big prep school + filled with kids that would be considered OR Ms, it gets tough on English teachers.

@squashisawesome- I agree, but I suffer from procrastination from essays and I am not able to be a leader in my English class opposed to all my other classes, I need that to change.

Now how severe procrastination? If you waited a week before to do six schools worth of essays, that can’t be good. Winter break is not procrastinating. I personally put a lot of effort into my essays (I was proofreading over thanksgiving break). If your essays are bad though, and I mean bad like your a step up from 3rd grade level, then your done and it shows u don’t care but other than that you should be fine.

@BHADES I wouldn’t worry about being a leader and all that in just 1 class. Everyone has that one class right?

Exactly! I just hope I can get better. I might even take a course in one of my local community colleges this summer so I can become a better writer. My dad is an excellent writer and was able to put off an A+ in honors english in college by taking those courses earlier on in his academics. I hope it helps me!

@BHADES haha! My science and math tests are what keep me from getting good grades! I hate my teachers too though because they are the teachers who give you a lecture at the front of the classroom and literally show no emotion whatsoever. And my science teacher is like, 23 or something so she has never taught before. On my report card she was like “ccnaf needs to raise her hand more in class” well we can’t really raise or hands if we listen to you talk the entire time! Point is, both my history and english teachers are enthusiastic about their subject so it makes a better course.
