Weather adjustment, warm to cold

Our California son enjoyed the first year at his NYC school in spite of the weather. It wasn't the cold he minded so much as the gray, and never being able to figure out whether he'd be cold or hot by looking out the window, or by what it was like the day before. I think there was one day when the temperature dropped almost 30 degrees between the time he left the dorm and the time he came back.

He said he loved having a campus he could hole up in, so he didn't have to deal with a city in bad weather if he didn't want to. And, he's going back with enthusiasm. But I'd have to say the odds of his ending up in California for grad school or work are going up and up. Yay!

cathymee, maybe bowdoin is an anomaly, but the students here do wear rainboots. j. crew makes ones that are particularly "trendy" (or at least they were last year). i think they're ridiculous-looking, personally, but i've linked them below, so you can see for yourself.
