weather, conditions at yale

hey guys

just wanted to know whether the weather at yale is unbearably cold?

How about the humidity and the precipitation?

Thanks!!

I live in Michigan, and Yale has a climate similar to here, although I would imagine Michigan is a bit harsher. Here, temperatures in the winter can get in the low 20s to upper teens, with subzero temperatures at night not uncommon. In the summer, it gets to around 85-90. It is always humid here. I hope that gives you some perspective.

Are electric blankets a good idea?

no, i believe they're a fire hazard and will get you fined. besides, the dorms are often overheated anyway; i brought a heavy quilt and only used it about three weeks of the year. bring some fun blankets to drag out into your common room with you when you want to study, though :p

Electric blankets? I've never heard of those. Wow.

They're amazing. My room is really badly heated and it gets absolutely freezing in the winter, so I love my blanket. And yes, it might be a fire hazard, but so is the rest of my room and I haven't had a single fire yet!

Or you can be like me and sleep in the coldest room of the house when the rest of the house is 55 degrees. :)

For some reason, my bedroom is really badly insulated or something, because it's the coldest room in the winter and the hottest room in the summer. Whenever I wake up, it feels ten degrees hotter than the rest of the house.

My room freshman year was overheated and we left the window open most of the day every day during the winter. I'm serious. There was no way to regulate the heater. Second year was fine, not that hot, actually cold sometimes, but that's because we didn't know that there was a way to control the temperature... So, it depends on your room. But it's never really cold (I'm from Siberia).
