My D did not miss having a car 1st semester, but took one for 2nd as she has an off campus internship this spring. She biked to the rec center and caught a ride when she needed to hit Target or elsewhere.

ShamrockDad, that sounds awesome!!! Bet you’re breathing a huge sigh of relief.

Pretty much! D is a careful driver but that far away (we are in TX) would stress us out a bit.

Ridgecrest South is the closest but as many posters have stated it is not a far walk to Publix or The Strip.

My son has a waterproof messenger bag (think bike messenger)which he fills up when he goes shopping. He can carry a full week of groceries if need be.

Since many students have cars they make a run to Walmart or Target. We invested in a Sam’s Club membership and they can do the larger shopping there and buy in bulk. Then they can split the items if necessary. You can also buy discounted gas there as well (an added incentive for someone to give you a lift there).

Also don’t forget that the Crimson Ride started a new route on Sundays this year that runs from 1-6pm and goes from campus to the shopping area with Best Buy/Barnes & Noble, then the mall, then the Super Target. D does that every 2 or 3 weeks & is able to get everything she needs.
