Hi, thank you in advance. So I’m sorting my wardrobe for what I should bring down, thing is I’m from NorCal Bay Area, so I’m used to being able to wear a sweatshirt and jeans during the summer sort of thing, with sweaters, boots, and coats in the winter and I’m getting the general vibe that SD is polar opposite of what I’m used to. Should I just bring a few long sleeves and mostly summer clothes like shorts and tank tops and t shirts, and not bother bringing my sweaters? For first quarter I’m just unsure what I’m going to need for the weather there, thank you!
Because UCSD is next to the beach, the high temperatures are usually in the 70s for fall. There will be lots of days that will be warm enough for tank tops and shorts, but mostly you will need jeans and t-shirt type clothes with a jacket available for cool mornings or evenings. As you get into winter, you will want a thicker cloth jacket or packable down type.
I would bring warm clothes. We’re by the beach so it does stay a bit colder near the campus. I would also be mindful of clothing for potential rainy weather! We get gloom on a frequent enough basis that I would be prepared for cooler weather (like 60s/70s). But yeah, I would bring layers just in case.
