How bad is the snow over there :] / how do kids get around

It’ll snow a lot on and off, but it’s usually nothing troublesome. Most paths are cleaned very quickly.

the weather is fine. Have a coat, scarf, boots, gloves, hat, and you’ll be fine. Frankly, a little snow in NYC is much more troublesome than a lot of snow in Ithaca.

If things here (outside NYC) are any indication, now is not the best time to be asking this question. We’ve been inundated with snow here, more than in any year I can remember. Don’t know about Ithaca, they’ve probably had less for all I know, but it’s ridiculous this year here.

Average snowfall in Ithaca is 67 inches. Which is plenty of snow, but if it makes you feel better the cities abutting the great lakes, Syracuse, Rocheseter, Buffalo get near or over 100 inches.

People get around by walking. The snow gets plowed/ cleared pretty well, but you will be walking through slush a lot. And, particularly before they get to it, better watch yourself heading down libe slope; or, heaven forbid, Buffalo Street. But people survive.

A good amount of snow happens over break, so you miss that part at least. Then there are a few good blasts in each of the ensuing months. That’s how I remember it.
They practically never canceled classes, I don’t remember them ever doing it, actually, when I was there.

They had a really good campus-wide snowball fight a year or so ago, I was told.

you can look on the cornell.edu website and go to "Live Views’ to see the actual weather - it was fine until this morning - but the rest of the East Coast is getting hit too - last week Ithaca had only a tad of snow while many other cities (Boston) had been getting bombed…

Having never seen snow in my entire life, the infamous weather here has been, up to now…disappointing… Sure, it can be cold, but really nothing after a while
