I have been accepted and I am so excited! However, there's one thing that's really holding me back: the weather. I am used to warm weather and I know, for sure, that it would be difficult to adapt, but an education like that is probably worth it. Any tips or comments?

Im a freshman from North Carolina. Its currently 64 at home, and it was -5 this morning when I woke up here. Lol. Its kinda hard, but its not too difficult. I’ve been told by people who live here its worse than usual this year, and im handling it pretty well. You need quality cold weather clothes though. I was kind of un prepared when I came up and had to get a $200 coat to stay warm, but if you layer you should be fine. It kind of hits hard, fall is sort of non existent, goes from shorts weather to in the 40’s within like 2 weeks.

I’ve lived in State College for 25 years and this is definitely the coldest winter I’ve been through. (We did have over ten feet of snow one year.) Your college years are a good time to experience life in another part of the country. You may even find you like it. :)

coming from warm sunny west coast… i couldn’t take the weather. WAY too cold, i wish i had a ski mask to cover up my entire face from the cold hahaha…

Its cold…every day. It’s snowing… everyday.
