Is the weather really that bad in Ithaca? Honestly...I'm used to South Florida and Saudi/UAE desert weather lol...I went to Boston...and it wasnt that bad...but that was in Feb of last year.....When does the witner season start in ithaca? like right when we get there?

no, in fact i wonder why people tend to pick out Cornell's weather. You wont be doing yourself any favor by going to any other ivy league school. You'll have to buy the exact same coat. All of the ivys get very cold in winter especially in comparison to a place like Florida. People seem to rant about snowy Cornell when in fact Boston/Harvard gets more annual snow than Cornell.

Obviously it wont be Florida weather, this is the Northeast.

This year, the winter season started around the last week of classes. The weather was sunny and beautiful until mid to late November. It was fantastic!

Go buy a winter coat and a snowboard; you'll have a blast.

here's a good weather resource:

Nice thanks guys. One other thing, you said wintercoat...jut like a jacket? or a heavy duty padded jacket? i have one, but its for like wearing like dressy suits underneath...

and i heard i need boots? what kind? like timbs lol? or like ankle high!?

It might be a good idea to wait until you get to school to buy a winter coat and boots. That way, you can see what the kids are wearing on canpus (altho it is probably just about everything). It isn't necessary to have winter wear in the beginning of the school year.

yes - no need for a coat right away - in the begining of the year its all about "ithaca is gorges"
