weather

is it t-shirt and shorts weather all year round? or is there a cold spell?

for me, winter, I wore jeans and a jacket. UCLA is near the beach and sometimes could get a little chilly. But definitely beginning from spring to fall, I wear t-shirts and shorts... I duno about others

When it rains, you don't really want to be in a t-shirt and shorts, but otherwise, it could theoretically be done and you'd be alright. It gets chilly at night during most of the year, though.

I noticed that most of UCLA housing doesn't have A/C. I've never had A/C at my house before, but considering that LA's much warmer than where I live... I was wondering, does it ever get too hot in the dorms without A/C or is it manageable?

It's manageable. I've never had AC at my house either, and my freshman year in De Neve it was a bit of a curse... my roommate always had the thermostat at 60 degrees and I froze to death. This year in Rieber was alright... at the end of the year it was sort of miserable, but it's only a few weeks out of the year where it's hot... just bring a fan. You'd be surprised how moderate the climate is during the year since it's so close to the coast (same distance as my house is).

I have a triple, so most likely I'll end up on the top of a bunk bed. What could you use other than a fan in the residence halls?

Less clothes?

Wet cloth? I don't know, I've never been in a triple.

Just sleep without any blankets. If you're still really that hot/desperate, sleep without clothes on too. haha jk...

Always bring an umbrella, because when it rains in Southern California, it pours... Otherwise it's usually T-shirt/night weather during the day and sweatshirt/jeans weather at night.

T-shirt/night weather?

aha! flopsy fails. =p

I meant to say "T-shirt/shorts" in that post...
This is what happens when you post in multiple threads at the same time.

What's winter like in LA? How does it compare to the weather in San Jose?

Winter in Los Angeles is ocasionally foggy in the mornings (ocean mist) and crisp in the evenings, but the daytime weather isn't that much different than Spring/Autumn in Los Angeles.
