Weather?

Hey,
I got accepted to Syracuse for next fall and I am trying to decide where to go. One of the things I'm worried about is the weather. I'm from Southern California so I am worried that the winters may be too cold for me. I love the cold, but from what I have heard Syracuse is pretty intense. Do you think the winters are manageable? And is it really cold most of the year?
Thanks :)

what part of So Cal? I'm from there as well (OC). My brothers have told me the winter there is indeed cooold. Yet it doesn't really bother me too much; I'm going to be checking out the campus over spring break (april 6th) so I'll ask them how they are.

So, I have lived here for 40+ years. The winters are cold and relatively long. Fall is beautiful and we get an "indian summer" usually in mid-october (temps go back into mid 70's). Starting in Nov, the temps go down and snow usually starts, though my birthday is in October and I've had snow on it (it doesn't stick or last). By Dec the temps are consistently in the 30's and we usually get snow. It will stay cold until March when you will start to get weather in the 50's. The coldest month is usually mid-Jan through Feb and it can get into the -degrees with wind chill. Go to weather.com and click on averages and that will give you a good picture. Spring starts in late March (such as now) and last until mid May. Last year we opened our pool on April 22nd, and were glad we did as we got some pretty warm days in early May. Most people embrace the winter weather and ski or other activities. The really harsh weather you hear about on news (huge snow storms) happen up near Oswego, where the lake effect snow can be brutal!! I love the winter, but by this time of year, we all look forward to summer, which is spectacular!! You really appreciate the warmer weather here, and the first few days of spring on "The Hill" are fun, with the frats blaring music, the kids all hanging in the quad (or I noticed this year a lot in front of the new business school building) playing frisbee or whatever. Hope it helps!

Thank you both! Catharsis16, I am from Torrance.. it is in LA county
I'll hopefully be checking out the campus as well during spring break
Thanks again :)
