I’m from the South, so I’m used to really, really hot weather and somewhat cold winters. However, in Boston, when does it usually start to get really cold? And when does it warm back up again? Because I’m planning on buying one of those down-filled North Face jackets, but I didn’t want to buy it too soon or too late. Also, any other suggestions for clothing material during the winter?

Kinda different every year but you can usually expect some cold by mid-October. Usually starts to warm up marginally by April going into May. Though you’ll always get outliers…today’s about 50 degrees but we had a 90 degree day in early April. And a snow day in March.

You need boots, not big clunky things for going through deep snow but waterproof. Hat, gloves, windproof jacket. If you get an outer layer that’s windproof, you can put insulation layers under.

It can get brutally cold during the winter so get ready. I am from California and had no problems adjusting. Go out in the snow and play around with your friends!
