weather

can anyone tell me what the weather is like in new orleans??
tulane is my top choice but im worried because ive heard it is very hot and humid there...i prefer colder weather :/

Hot & humid, then less hot, then really nice, then cool and wet, then really nice, then warmer, then hot & humid.

It’s not unbearable. Don’t pick a school based on the weather.

It’s very hot when you arrive, and will be like this for four weeks. It will get gradually cooler. You will need a winter coat for November-December-January-February. Then it will start getting warm again.

When it rains, it rains.

All the buildings have excellent air conditioning. My D complains it is actually too cold sometimes when it gets really hot outside. Tulanechild describes it perfectly as far as the cycle, though. There can be days where it is about 40 in Nov-Feb, but it can also be 70 and wonderful. The biggest difference between 50 in New Orleans and 50 in many other areas is that it is still a rather damp chill, so a simple sweater is sometimes not enough. You need a coat that blocks out the dampness. But bottom line, there are a ton of really really nice days. It does rain a lot in late summer and early spring, especially.

thank you all! this was very helpful

It snowed my DS’s freshman year!
