Hey everyone! So during Decemberish I started to web page design and I’ve been taking the class at my high school. I’ve grown to love web designing, and today my teacher told me of a friend of hers that is starting a business and is needing a web developer. I want to charge by the project. Since this is my first client, I know that I cannot charge a lot (which I still don’t really know what a lot is in the web design world) so can anybody help me with the charging? Thanks a lot!
To be perfectly honest, if your teacher’s friend is starting a legitimate internet business then they will probably need someone who is far more qualified. I mean I’m not trying to be mean but there’s a lot that goes into web developing and I just can’t imagine being able to learn it all in a 6 month HS class. Granted there’s a big difference between a basic informational website and a fortune 500 business website.
But to your original question; assuming you are capable of doing it in a timely manner. Estimate how many hours you think it’ll take to do and multiple that against minimum wage, move up from there as your qualifications increase.
