<p>The #14 ranked U.S. Merchant Marine Academy wrestling team defeated Hunter College, 34-14, for Head Coach Greg Ilaria’s first dual meet victory as the Mariners coach. Erik Schott and John Brunetti both pinned their opponent in victory on the night. </p>

<h1>9 James Beshada got the winning started for the Mariners with a 14-4 major decision over Kyle Cammaroto at the 141-pound weight class. #6 Dan Twito, at the 149-pound weight class, then won by a 9-7 decision over Vitaly Simkin. At the 157-pound weight class, Scott Lowe defeated Matt Cartusciello by a 7-5 decision. Paul Carter then won by a forfeit at the 165-pound weight class. The Mariners got their first pin of the night at the 174-pound weight class. Schott was able to pin Ryan Baxter in 2:25 for the victory. USMMA won the next weight class by a forfeit. The Mariners got their second pin of the night in the final match of the night. Brunetti pinned Dan Heydebrand in 1:25 to give USMMA a 34-14 victory on the night.</h1>

<p>The wrestling team returns to action on Saturday, December 13th when the club travels to Princeton to take on Division I Princeton, Delaware State and Binghamton. The matches start at 1:00 pm.</p>

<p>where were Alfaro at 125 lbs., Greene at 133 lbs., Renault at 165 lbs. and Vincent at 197 lbs. ??? Did they give them the day off?</p>

<p>From my understanding yes. The person I spoke with gave me the idea that it's still preseason and that they'll be wrestling later. Probably to keep them from getting hurt or something.</p>

<p>Where are the Wrestling Championships held? I know a ton of D3 Championships are held in Virginia and wondered if the wrestling is the same?</p>

<p>Suzanne, one Championship that will be held in Virginia this season is The All-Academy Wrestling Championships (2/7/09), just up the road from you in Lexington, Va at VMI.</p>

<p>Sweet! This is one thing I can actually get to.........I hope!!! I coach Varsity Swimming and I'm not sure when our District meets are :)</p>
