Hi Im a high school student in Washington state and recently got accepted into SDSU. I am applying to the WHC before the January 15th deadline. I just am curious about my chances. I will graduate with an associates degree in arts and science from everett community college when i graduate high school.
My stats are: SAT: 1300 ACT: 29 Washington UW GPA: 3.852/4.0
Any help would be great thank you!
This was the average stats last year for accepted WHC students:
Typically, the average SAT (math + verbal) is approximately 1345, the average ACT is approximately 30, and the average high school weighted GPA is approximately 4.14.
Much will depend upon how you compare to the other applicants. Since your stats look below the averages, I would say 50/50 in comparison to last year.
Can you afford SDSU you since it is out of state for you?
It’s $40,000 a year with no financial aid to out-of-state residents.
Its about 9,000 more a year than UW which is probably where i would go if not SDSU and I am planning on working in college and applying to scholarships.
My GPA after this quarter is actually UW 3.87 and ACT combined score is 30.
I didn’t take any AP classes only honors so I dont have a high W GPA but I took only college courses my junior and senior year so Im hoping they look at that and see that I will be going in with college credit.
dang I didn’t realize it was so competitive maybe less people are applying this year because of how early the WHC application deadline is.
Do they mainly take more in state students or is it a mix?
SDSU does not provide scholarships to non residents. The State just doesn’t have the money. Because you are not a resident of California, you don’t qualify for any state aid nor Cal Grants. Calgrants cover a large portion of state resident fees. As a non-resident, you are not eligible to receive those funds.
Cost of attendance for nonresidents is $40k a year. Most outside scholarships are minimal and competitive.
The state has political pressure to admit more resident students.
Each year, the Weber Honors College awards approximately 10 scholarships to incoming honors freshmen. To apply for these scholarships you must first complete your application to the Weber Honors College by 11:59pm on the January 15 deadline. Students who are admitted to the Weber Honors College will receive an email with a link to the Weber Honors College Scholarship Application.
Here is a link for SDSU scholarships, but do not count on these to finance the bulk of your OOS fees.

According to the WHC FAQ’s they have around 1600 applicants and accepted 300 students. Most likely the majority of Honors students are in-state since the majority of applicants are in-state.
