Website Differences?

Hey I was just wondering if anyone noticed the differences between Swarthmore.com and Swarthmore.edu. Its mostly the same content, just two different looks.

Hmmm. That's the new website (www.swarthmore.com) that is scheduled for roll-out in April.

Doesn't look like it completely done, but very close. Cool.

Wow, I do like www.swarthmore.com. Much more professional looking, if you ask me.

There is a lot of new content as well. Click the "ABOUT" button. The description of the college is all new. Drilling down from that page, the "President's Welcome" is also new.

the new website looks a lot better and has a lot more content. nice.

Wow. I wonder if they meant to have it open to the public like this...

Probably. It's been up publicly for a month or two at http://sumac.its.swarthmore.edu/

Arador:

Just an aside: Loved your photos in the April Fools Day Gazette. I can't decide if the spear-throwing squirrels or the zombies on the Parrish steps is my favorite. The zombie photo kinda looks like the classic Ride the Tide shot of specs dragging their stuff up from the train station, huh?

Hah! Yea, though now they have the specs go to the Science Center, so the scene is a bit different. More like specs getting lost in that maze of a building...

But thanks. I enjoyed editing them. :D

I must say I like the new website too, but do you think they might switch it over to the .edu domain or just leave it .com?

Oh, they'll definitely put it live on .edu -- probably pretty soon. They've been working on it for a long time. It was already announced for an April rollout.

There are still a lot of broken links and missing stuff. For example, the Google search engine is not working. Supposedly, the thing is semi-automated, meaning that new stuff added by a department (like admissions) will format automatically. There may be some advantage in doing the final finishing touches with the need to only do a search and replace changing .com to .edu to go live with the thing.

They took the www.swarthmore.com link down. The link AtSwat posted above still works.
