website

is it just me or is JHU's website horrible? every time i go there i get lost in a bunch of nonsense

ugh it is definitely a big mess...

one of the worst i've seen as far as college websites go for applicants. usually the best schools have the most comprehensive and imformative undergrad admissions sites with login screenames etc. but apparently jhu doesnt wanna be good like that. the very least they could do is post the date letters will be mailed or emails sent or whatever.

The dates are clearly indicated in the page for Regular Decision Applicants. Furthermore, there is a link on the main page for admissions that says: Regular Decision applicant? Click here for information about decision letters. The link is : <a href="http://apply.jhu.edu/faqs/rdfresh.html#rd_admit%5B/url%5D">http://apply.jhu.edu/faqs/rdfresh.html#rd_admit</a>

Seriously guys...

there are so many broken links. I can't find the course requirements for certain majors. It's not really comprehensive at all.

silver, do you work for hopkins admissions because theres no way you can defend that ****poor website? obviously it's by april 1st, i knew that 6 months ago! almost all schools are by april 1, but jhu is not being specific about times and dates when decisions will be available online (which they wont be), and the dates that they are mailing on. hopkins has kept applicants in the dark as far as this information goes. and when you consider that the eight ivies, duke, gtown, stanford, mit....and all the great schools, have login names and passwords and have communicated recently through email with applicants, jhu pales in comparison. disappointed in the hop. if it wants to be considered on par with first tier schools, its gotta act like one.

the march 30th date is on the JHU website.. its kinda hard to find though-

from <a href="http://apply.jhu.edu/faqs/rdfresh.html-%5B/url%5D">http://apply.jhu.edu/faqs/rdfresh.html-</a></p>

When will admissions be released?

We anticipate mailing/emailing decisions on March 30, 2005. Admissions decisions may be released over the phone only to the applicant, the parents or guardian of an applicant, or the applicant's high school guidance counselor. Decisions may be released only if the identity of the caller can be reasonably assured. Decisions will not be released by phone prior to April 4, 2005.

I think finding deadlines for financial aid required some deep digging for me, and even then I couldn't really find it. I ended up emailing them for the info. The site is extremely confusing.

yea, in general the site isnt that great. they never had the dates posted for the admitted students open house posted until today, the overnight visits link still says 'check back in the spring for more info' the housing site doesnt have good pictures of the dorms and floor plans. Some colleges actually have 3D views of dorms. there is no link to the BS/MS combined major on the BME website and sample course schedules for some1 intending that course...i am ED but i agree that the site is pretty horrible

I think the JHU website is ok given the number of schools JHU has. If you really want to see a bad website check out Williams.edu. Just one little college and the website is horrible. Looks like a third grader set it up.

JHU changed the date
<a href="http://apply.jhu.edu/faqs/rdfresh.html%5B/url%5D">http://apply.jhu.edu/faqs/rdfresh.html</a></p>

When will admissions be released?

We will mailing/emailing decisions no later than April 1, 2005. Admissions decisions may be released over the phone only to the applicant, the parents or guardian of an applicant, or the applicant's high school guidance counselor. Decisions may be released only if the identity of the caller can be reasonably assured. Decisions will not be released by phone prior to April 4, 2005.

hey this is not nice...48 hours later than originally scheduled

ya.. i just noticed. i can't comprehend why they would change the decision release date on the day they were supposed to send them..

i doubt that they would stick to their April 1st deadline... remember their website said "first week of April" just a few weeks back...

dude they better stick to the april first deadline.. even if they get it to us by april 1 we only have a month to decide which college we want to go to.. and if its even later, then that would make the whole decision process that much harder.. (unless you reaaally want to go to JHU and it was the only school you applied to)

I must admit that the University of Toronto website is the worst (for informative purposes) that i have ever tried to navigate.
