My daughter is auditioning in March at Webster. We’re trying to make our flight arrangements and are wondering about the schedule for the auditions. Anyone have recent experience with how the day works?

I know that my daughter will want to tour the facilities, and talk to students, and see a rehearsal, and… Is there any reason that a 7:40 PM flight wouldn’t work? I’m not sure how far away the airport is from the campus.

The airport is approx 1/2 hour from campus. My D usually leaves campus approx. 2 hours before her flight is due to depart; but be aware a 7:40PM flight could put you in heavy traffic if you're flying on a weekday, so you might want to allow more time. I doubt you'd need that much time on the weekend.

Can't help with the on-campus audition schedule (sorry, my D auditioned off-campus); but if you will be there on a weekday, you might want to see if you can pre-arrange for a "theatre buddy" so she can attend conservatory classes (1-5PM) with him/her. (Music, dance, private voice, piano, electives are in the morning.) It's a really invaluable experience! If her audition is scheduled for the morning, she should be able to arrange this; it's the ideal way to spend some time with the theatre students and get a feel for a "day in the life" of the conservatory student.

My d is auditioning on Feb. 15th-- we just recieved an agenda in the mail for that day. It looks like everything starts at 8:30 am (check-in ) and then the auditions start at 9am. It looks like the dance audition class is at 3pm. It says, "This portion of the audition [dance class] will take place in the late afternoon, so musical theatre students should plan on staying the full day." Don't know if that helps or not.

We auditioned at Webster today at Chicago Unifieds. Dance was not required. They were very nice and gave us a lot of good feedback unlike CCM which felt like you were in line to vote.

What kind of dance shoes should I bring for an on-campus audition at Webster? It says either character or jazz for girls. Is there a preferred type though?

Hello! My name is Sam and I am currently a freshman musical theatre major in the Conservatory. I actually was lucky enough to help with the dance call earlier today for the musical theatre applicants and I would agree with the lovely Marianne that what you feel best in is what you should wear! I hope everyone has a great audition and I hope I get to meet you when you come! Good luck and if you have any questions about anything feel free to PM!
