Webster University Symphony Orchestra

My D will be entering as a freshman acting major, but she is also a pretty good violinist and we’d love for her to have an outlet there to keep up her instrument. Does anyone know whether participating in the orchestra is a reasonable option? I know she has to audition, but my real concern is time and scheduling. According to the website, the orchestra has minimum rehearsals before each performance, on select Tuesday evenings, but how would this fit with an acting major’s schedule?

Greetings,

I am pleased to see this posting. It might be possible for your daughter to play in the orchestra and balance it with her first year Conservatory Schedule. She should contact Dr. Allen Carl Larson, the Music Director for the Orchestra about the audition situation. His email is larsonac@webster.edu. If you need any further information, please contact me through Webster. During the summer, I do not check CC all that much.

I hope this helps.
