Weed out general ed./intro courses

anyone know what the difficult weed out courses are for incoming freshman of all majors? and which ones are easy or ok?

I've read that the Accounting Basics course--which is only a 1 unit course--is a definite weed out course for business majors. I've also not heard many good things about the professor teaching it. Apparently, he's one of the few business professors nobody wants to take. Maybe he'll be better this year than last, though, if he's reading the same reviews as me (<a href="http://www.ratemyprofessors.com%5B/url%5D">www.ratemyprofessors.com</a>)</p>

As far as general ed, English Comp W131, is the typical weed-out English comp course all colleges have.

well i get to be exempt from english comp and take another english course instead. heh to sum it up, i want an easy A for that english requirement. shud i just take w131 or the other english alternatives that IU offers? cant seem to find out which english requirement course is easiest.....

public speaking or business presentations is also a freshman requirment

I thought you had to take both of these courses--you mean its just one or the other?

no, you get to choose one or the other. I'm not sure which one im taking yet.

wait, is this the weed smokers page? YEAH!!! SMOKE WEED BABY!

hahah sory its the weeed OUT courses page :)

ummm.....no.

If you check out the following website: <a href="http://www.indiana.edu/%7Ebulletin/iub/business/bachelor.html#specom%5B/url%5D">http://www.indiana.edu/~bulletin/iub/business/bachelor.html#specom</a></p>

and look under the section entitled "Course Requirements", then under General Ed requirements, then under section I Communications, you'll see that both the Public Speaking and the Business Presentations classes are requirements.

heh i wish i could but sorry i dont know how to change it :)

Son is at work right now, but he and my ex told a story that during Direct Admit Day there was a professor - and I think it was Basic Accounting - who said, "Everyone in the business school has to take my class. And some have to take it more than once."

I'm sure you're all thrilled to hear this.

Argh, I don't want to lose my scholarship because of teachers like him, lol.

I think it's good you kids will know going in, though. If you need extra help, make sure you get it, because as miserable as this class may be the first time you take it, it has to be that much worse the second time.

MUAHAHAH, i can take him il show tat loser!!!!!!!!!! im takin the highest math my school offers, he is nothin! basic accounting ha :) <== disregard, me bein arrogant.

no, its only one or the other. I was talking about public speaking (CMCL-C 121) and business presentations (x104), not business communications (x204). Business communications is like how to write emails and stuff

mike321, you are correct and I am mistaken--I mixed up X104 and X204 (X104 business presentations--is not required, but X204 business communications is required).

After looking through the 470 pages of the schedule of classes (and that's just for the one semester!!!!!), my eyesite is leaving me.

I think the only major at Indiana that I didn't see was Film Production and Editing. But I guess if I was going there and had a choice from among the other 130 majors, 328 possible degree programs, and 5,000 classes per semester, I might find one or two classes of interest. (But it's my son's problem, not mine--and strangely enough, he says he doesn't even need to look at the schedule of classes--he says he already knows what he wants to take--go figure.)

Well, after looking at the schedule of classes my son and I found out they do have a Film Production and Editing department--it's listed under Telecommunications. It kind of figures they'd have that too--they have everything except a Homeland Security major--but maybe I just missed that one also.

We get a packet with 470 pages of classes?! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

BUMP- is this just for direct-admit kids or everyone
who enters IU? Also, if you get in Kelley after 2 years
or whatnot, you take these classes then? Or concurrently?
